March Student of the Month sponsored by Colwich Lion's Club

Ella quietly exemplifies what it means to be a great learner and an even better person. Though she may be shy, she is always on task and consistently gives her best effort. She comes to class each day with a smile on her face, ready to work and ready to be kind. She is a loyal friend who stays out of squabbles and treats others with respect. She truly represents the iconic small-town friend—dependable, genuine, and hardworking. If I could put her on the copy machine and duplicate her values and work ethic, I absolutely would. Congrats, to our dear friend, Ella!

Ella Neville is in 2nd grade and was nominated by Ms. Lies.

Renwick R.E.A.C.H Award Recipients

Congratulations to Lena Meyer, Ella Butterfield, Addi Butterfield, and Evan Wetta on receiving the Renwick R.E.A.C.H Awards that recognize Effort, Attitude, Character and Heart!
Students were nominated by Mr. Burke and recognized at the February Board of Education meeting.
All four students live out the Cardinal Code at school and in our community. We appreciate having them as role models for their peers.

Coin Wars are coming March 9 - 13

What is Coin Wars?
It is our spring fundraiser! This fundraiser is in lieu of sending students home with the task of selling door-to-door & delivering products where you only get to keep a small portion of the sales. Please help us avoid that by supporting this fun, friendly competition game of Coin Wars between classes.
How is Coin War played?
This game is simple. It is basically a competition to see which class can raise the most money. Since class sizes vary, the classes will compete to get the highest average amount per student. Each day the money will be counted and there will be a traveling trophy for the class in the lead. There will be prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. Additionally, there will be school wide prizes that are unlocked when fundraising milestones are reached, and daily winners for classes that do the best on individual days!
How can I donate?
You can donate by giving your child coins, bills, or checks (payable to Colwich HSO) that they can bring in any day for the week of March 9-13. They will put it into their class’s container each morning. There is also an option to donate online beginning March 8, so you can ask people near or far!

Learn more at HSO's website.

🌸 March School Nurse Newsletter 🌸

Dear Families,
Spring is just around the corner! As we head into March, we’re seeing changing weather, seasonal allergies, and plenty of busy students. Please review the important health updates and reminders below.

Seasonal Allergies Are Starting
  • With spring approaching, pollen levels begin to rise. If your child experiences sneezing, itchy eyes, congestion, or headaches, it may be seasonal allergies rather than a cold.
Helpful Tips:
  • Begin allergy medications before symptoms worsen (if recommended by your healthcare provider).
  • Shower and change clothes after outdoor activities.
  • Notify the health office if your child will need allergy medication at school (doctor’s order required).
Cold & Flu Reminders
  • Cold and flu season is still active. Please keep your child home if they have:
  • Fever of 100.0°F or higher (must be fever-free for 24 hours without medication before returning)
  • Vomiting or diarrhea (24 hours symptom-free before returning)
  • Persistent cough with fever
  • Unexplained rash
  • Encourage frequent handwashing and covering coughs/sneezes to help reduce the spread of illness.
March is National Nutrition Month
  • March is recognized as Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics National Nutrition Month®, a campaign encouraging healthy eating habits.
Healthy Tips for Families:
  • Add a fruit or vegetable to every meal.
  • Encourage water instead of sugary drinks.
  • Pack balanced lunches with protein, whole grains, and produce.
  • Try one new healthy recipe together this month!
If your child has new medical diagnoses, updated immunizations, or health concerns, please notify the health office. Wishing everyone a healthy and happy March!

🌸Your School Nurse,
Nurse Ashleigh
