paisley

May Student of the Month sponsored by Colwich Lion's Club

Paisley is such a sweet young lady. She is perpetually in a good mood and always glad to see her school people. She has made so many friends here at Colwich and she just loves it when her friends tell her hi and give her some fun attention. She is never afraid to let you know she is here and ready for adventures. She is a sweet, beautiful, and a loved part of our Life Skills classroom. She is going to be missed next year, but we all wish her the very best in high school.

Paisley is in 8th grade in Mrs. Ries' classroom.
henry

May Student of the Month sponsored by Colwich Lion's Club

Henry is such an exceptional role model and leader in kindergarten, inside the classroom and while here at school. Henry is a kind friend to everyone and never hesitates to include someone in what he is playing! The willingness to help out when and wherever needed is what makes Henry so special. We are so lucky to have Henry in Kindergarten!

Henry was nominated by Mrs. Marx and Mrs. Butterfield.

🌷Health News from Nurse Ashleigh 🌷

As we head into the final month of school, here are a few important health reminders to help students finish the year safely and prepare for summer and the upcoming school year:

Sunscreen Policy
With more outdoor activities taking place, sunscreen use is encouraged. Students are allowed to bring sunscreen to school and may apply it to themselves. However, for safety and policy reasons:
  • Students may not apply sunscreen to other students
  • Teachers and staff are not permitted to apply sunscreen to students
Please consider applying sunscreen at home before school and sending it with your child if reapplication is needed.

Sports Physicals for Next Year (7th & 8th Grade)
Students entering 7th and 8th grade who plan to participate in school sports next year will need a sports physical dated after May 1, 2026.
Scheduling these appointments early can help avoid the back-to-school rush.

Immunization Requirements for Incoming 7th Graders
For current 6th grade students, please be aware of the following immunization requirements for 7th grade:
  • A single dose of Tdap (Tetanus Booster) is required for grades 7–12 if there is no previous record of Tdap vaccination
  • Two doses of the Meningococcal vaccine are required, with one dose required prior to entry into 7th grade
Please check your email for a message from Nurse Ashleigh if your child still needs these immunizations.

Medication Pick-Up Reminder
If your student has medication stored in the health office:
  • All medications must be picked up by the last day of school
  • Medications cannot be stored over the summer
  • Any medication not picked up will be properly disposed of according to school policy
If you have questions about your child’s health needs or documentation requirements, please contact the school health office.

Wishing all our students a healthy and safe end to the school year!

New Reading Hammocks

Ms. Lies received a grant from BCTV to install reading hammocks on our playground. Our school is incredibly grateful for their investment in creating meaningful outdoor spaces for our students. Our students played an important role in the process. During Creative Cardinal Day, they went outside, measured, and thoughtfully proposed the layout for the hammock area. Their planning paid off—we now have six posts installed, with the capacity to hold up to eight hammocks in total.
We were fortunate to have a community parent, Garrett Brand, volunteer his time and equipment, bringing out his CAT machine with an auger attachment to dig the post holes. It became an unexpected highlight for many of our younger students who were fascinated watching such an impressive piece of equipment in action.
Students have been eagerly awaiting their turns to use the hammocks.
